#252: Stop Blaming Your Website: The Real Reason Your Customers Aren’t Buying

I just recorded a podcast episode for you that’ll show you why your website’s not making you enough sales.

Last week, I had a coaching call with a farm couple who should be wildly successful. They’ve got grass-fed beef, cooking classes, farm tours, and even an Airbnb. Their website? Gorgeous. Their content? Excellent. Email signups? Happening daily without them lifting a finger.

But they were so frustrated it wasn’t making sales.

Sound familiar?

Here’s what I told them (and what you need to hear):

Your website isn’t making sales because you don’t yet have the skill of turning website visitors into paying customers.

And that’s actually GREAT news. Because it means you’re totally in control of fixing it by learning this skill.

When this couple showed me one of their marketing emails, I knew exactly what was wrong. They hadn’t studied marketing, so it was focused on the wrong things.

It’s all okay; you’ve probably also been focused on farming, rather than learning how to find the people who will gladly pay you the prices you need to charge.

It’s a learning stage every farmer goes through on their way to success.

They were breaking what I call “The Rule of One” – cramming five different offerings into one email, overwhelming their audience, and in addition…

They weren’t addressing a single pain point their customers actually had.

(People buy when you show them your farm products or events help their struggles. That’s the foundation of what I show you how to do.)

It’s totally normal that when you first start your farm and want to make a sale, you talk about your farm.

This couple was marketing from THEIR perspective (look at our amazing regenerative practices!) instead of their customers’ perspective (help, my kids are glued to their phones and I want meaningful family time).

I rewrote their email during our coaching call. Instead of “Reserve your spot to meet baby goats,” we started with:

“I’ll bet you’re like me. I get so tired of looking over and seeing my kids glued to cell phones when we live in such a beautiful world…”

See the difference?

One is a sales pitch. The other is a conversation that leads them to be excited to buy.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • The #1 mistake farmers make in their marketing emails (and how to fix it immediately)
  • Why “The Rule of One” will start making you more sales than ever
  • Why focusing on YOUR amazing farming practices is killing your sales

This isn’t about your website, your social media, or your pricing.

It’s about learning the skill of relationship-based marketing that actually drives sales.

Here’s the truth: You can have the most beautiful farm, the highest-quality products, and the most passionate mission…

But if you don’t know how to connect with your customers’ real needs and compel them to buy, you’ll stay stuck watching other farms succeed while you wonder what you’re doing wrong.

I’m here to support you through figuring out this marketing thing. Let me help you discover what’s really broken.

It’s not what you think it is.

And it’s totally fixable.

xo, Charlotte
